What this site is
A hand-built guide to happy hours in Detroit and the inner ring. Listings are compiled from what each venue publishes first-hand — its own site, its own menu, its own posts — or from a direct reply from the venue, and then checked by a person before they go live. It's a guide, not a booking service and not an agreement between you and any bar.
No affiliation with the bars
4PM Detroit is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or authorized by any venue listed on it. Listing a bar isn't an endorsement of that bar, and leaving one off isn't a judgment about it. Venue names, logos, and marks belong to their owners and appear here only to identify the place being written about.
Backing that up: there are no ads, no affiliate links, and no sponsored listings. No bar pays to be here, and no bar can pay to rank higher or to be removed from a comparison. What gets listed and how it's ordered is an editorial call, and nothing more.
What's mine, and what isn't
The curation, the descriptions, the writing, the design, and the code are mine (Ryan Kolean). Please don't scrape the guide and republish it as your own listings. Link to it instead.
Facts aren't mine and I'm not claiming them: an address, a phone number, the hours a bar keeps or the price it charges are the bar's, and anyone is free to go find them.
Use it, but
- Don't scrape or bulk-copy the listings to rebuild the guide somewhere else.
- Don't hammer the site with automated traffic.
- Don't present anything from here as a bar's official word, because it isn't.
If something here costs you a trip
The site is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind. I don't promise it is accurate, current, or complete, and I'm not responsible for the decisions you make with it — a wasted drive, a price that went up, a happy hour that ended last month, a bar that closed. To the fullest extent Michigan law allows, neither I nor 4PM Detroit is liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or from anything you relied on here.
Whatever you do with what you find here is on you, including drinking responsibly and not driving after.
If submissions ever get published
Right now the Suggest and Report forms take what you type, plus the bar name — and on a report, which listing you were looking at. No name, no email, no photos, and nothing you send is published as written — it's a tip that a person reads and acts on. So there's no content license on this page, because there's nothing to license.
If that ever changes and the site starts publishing what people submit, this page gets a content-license clause before that ships.
Michigan law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Changes
These terms will change as the site does. When they do, the effective date at the top moves. There's no mailing list and no notification — checking this page is the only way to see it.
